Wood floors are very hard wearing and popular floors. This parquet floor in heaton moor, had started to look tired but following a leak, required some extra attention. Imperial Floor care were appointed by the insurance company and their main contractors to carry out the work of restoring this floor.
Due to water damage a couple of boards required replacement and some areas had slightly raised and the floor was left uneven.
This picture also shows the wooden block replacements there were required.
To cut the floor flat again, we use a very large dustless belt sanding machine starting at a 36 grit sand paper. The results of this step can instantly be seen and the natural colour of the wooden floor is restored.
As the floor is a harinbone pattern we sand this diagonally so you are workimg with the grain on 50% of the boards. We then work the opposite way on the next grit up. we work the floor from 40 up to 80 grit.
Once the all the floor and edges are do, we then move to our specialist finishing machine which is a planatry head. This goes any way against the grain and leaves a perfect smooth finish. We work this machine from a 60 grit up to a 100 grit finish.
You can see the floor below before the seal was applied.
Once the floor is fully vaced we then look to apply the first coat. on this floor the customer in heaton moor wanted a matt finish with a slight deepening of the colour. Junkers strong Matt was the perfect choice. We applied 1 coat of Base and 2 coats of the strong to give the customer a durable, long lasting finish.
