Sanding wooden floor in Manchester wood company

Imperial Floor care were recently called out to help a client resolve some issues with a wooden floor.  The wooden floor thay required sanding was situated in Beetham tower or the Hilton hotel as most people in manchester know it.

The customer required imperial floor care to sand back and remove the old lacquer and damage.   Fill the joints where required and re stain the floor to give it a wonderful new like finish again.
As the apartments had been fully decorated we were chosen for the job due to our dustless system.  The client required dustless sanding and with imperial floor cares investment in the lastest sanding technology,  this gave the client the confidence to use our services.

From the picture below you can see how damaged the current finish was.

To remove this damage we had to start at a 36 grit sand paper.  This gives the floor a deep sand and cuts past all the old lacquer and damage. The machine used for this is a dust less belt sander.

Once the first cut is complete, the original or virgin wood will be visible.

Folloing this cut you we then work in all the edges using our specialist edging machines.  We have four top of the range edging machines, all are lad dustless and this guarantees we can get into every corner and edge.

Once all the areas are sanded we the move up through the grits to make the wooden floor lovely and smooth.  A 40girt 60 80 and 100 grit area used.

We can start using our plantery finishing machine.   Not many companies have a plantery finishing machine, but this gives the best finish on the floor.  With 3 spinning heads we can sand in any direction to create the final wooden floor finish and this helps remove every scratch pattern that remains in the floor.

To finish the floor we use many different products to finish the floor.  Depending on customer requirements we can stain the floor, oil, hardwax oil or lacquer the floor.  On this floor the customer wanted the toughest finish as it was a rental property.

After discussing the options the customer went with a junker lacquer.   This is a 2 part system and we alway apply 3 coats.

The first coat is a base coat or prelaq.  This helps give the top lacquer a really good bond and gives the ultimate protection all the way through.  After the pre laq give the floor a quick sand to smooth it out with our specialist mess sand paper.  Following this we give it 2 coats of finish lacquer and the results are outstanding.
